5th Annual Photo Contest ! 

Lorain County Conservation District is pleased to announce our 5th Annual Photo Contest winner: Charles Herdendorf!

 

The contest is intended to allow residents of all ages to showcase their photography skills, while capturing the beauty of Lorain County. Photos must be taken within Lorain County and only amateur photographers are permitted to enter the contest.

​

The theme for 2023 was SOILS - The Foundation of Life. 

​

No contest was held in 2024, as NACD held a poster & photo contest this year. Entries for the photo contest will be accepted until December 31st.

2023 Lorain County Conservation District winning photograph:

"Soils of North Ridge, Sheffield Village, Ohio"

Charles Herdendorf captured the beauty of northern Lorain County soils. He states:      "The light colored soil in the foreground is Oshtemo sandy loam formed from glacial lake beach ridge parent material, whereas the darker soil in the background is Mermill loam, a wetland soil formed in ancient lake deposits.
